Een fascinerend onderwerp, dat me doet beseffen dat we nog zo weinig weten van de natuur en dieren om ons heen (en laat staan wat we daar nog van kunnen leren).
Uit een mooi artikel met een samenvatting van recent onderzoek naar animal sentience: “In the past 5 years, an interdisciplinary community of animal consciousness researchers, drawn from neuroscience, evolutionary biology, comparative psychology, animal welfare science, and philosophy, has begun to coalesce around these questions, as shown, for example, by the founding of the journal Animal Sentience in 2016. The aim of this field is to study the inner lives of animals (their subjective experiences and feelings) in a scientifically rigorous way, on the model of the scientific study of human consciousness.”
