A topic which never ceases to fascinate me is what enterprise architects might learn from “brick-and-mortar” architects. For example, a recent article in the Harvard Gazette discusses the “typical division between the production of architecture and the consumption of architecture”.
The article mentions Harvard’s assistant professor of architecture Michelle Chang, “who […] recalled a campaign she had witnessed in Houston against a particular high-rise development in 2015. Rather than address the unspoken underlying issue — that a tall apartment building might bring a more diverse population into the affluent suburb — the campaign focused on demonizing the building itself, with signs that anthropomorphized the high-rise as a menacing enemy.”
Maybe it sounds far-fetched, but doesn’t this translate to demonizing the IT-system instead of the underlying business processes it aims to support?
